The Return & What's Been Going On

Hi, everybody.  DJ here.  I know it's been a while since I've updated the maintenance page but I do have some updates.  First off, the show took a year off on YouTube (between August of last year and this year) as I used Instagram Live daily between January and July of this year.  Go check out the DJRL Instagram page for episodes of the show there during that time, including a trip to Columbus, my vacation to Daytona Beach FL & Wilmington NC, and other misadventures of yours truly.  I was forced to stop the dailies on IG due to Instagram restrictions, so I moved back to YouTube and, as of this date, I have five episodes posted of the rebooted show on YouTube.  I have to wait a short while (likely another week or two) before I get the next episode going due to real life stuff.  In the meantime, I have made a major change to the aesthetics of DJ in Real Life.  The show now has a new logo for the first time in six years.  I am still using my personal DJ logo for my personal stuff, but for the show I thought I needed a refresh and a differentation regarding the show logo going forward.  It is now live on all DJRL social media.  I will be tweaking it from time to time, mainly with the color scheme, but it will be the logo going forward.  That's all I've got for now.  Thanks to everyone who supports the show and I'll be back online soon enough.  Until next time, folks...take care, God Bless, and I'll see you on the flip side.

Status of the Show

Hello, all.  DJ here once again with an update on the show.  It has been on a long hiatus but for damn good reason.  After my last update back in September, it was discovered that my mother had a serious cancer.  She passed away at the end of November.  It has been a pretty hard time since then in the past four months and I have had to deal with stuff related to her passing and the estate.  Because of all that, I won't be able to return to the show for a while or at least until the estate is settled.  That is still a few months off at this point but if I get the right equipment in the meantime I can start up  again sooner.  I have been trying to upgrade my equipment, though, as I have some new camera stuff to work with to film footage for the show.  In any case, I absolutely need a new upgraded computer to be able to edit the show before I can get the show up and running again.  The one I have is no longer suitable for editing as it's old and out of date and only good for web surfing anymore.  I need more, obviously, so...again...the show is still on hiatus.  Until next time, folks...take care, God Bless, and don't forget to tell your loved ones how you feel.  Buh bye.

Show On Hiatus Once Again (Not What I Wanted...)

Hi everyone.  It's ya boy DJ here with an unfortunate update.  I have to put the show on hiatus for the time being once again.  This time it has nothing to do with me or the show itself as I have stuff I really want to cover on the show.  This is due to technical difficulties that are making it hard at the present time to do the show.  This started up a few weeks ago when I filmed footage for an episode.  Unfortunately, some of it degraded by itself and most of it was unusable.  It had to do with my camera which is starting to go on the fritz.  As a precaution, I decided to not use the camera for the time being and, thus, the show has to go on hiatus once again.  I hate that I have to do this because I've got a lot of stuff I want to do for the show.  It looks like I'm gonna have to get some replacement or better equipment before I can bring the show back.  I was afraid it was gonna happen eventually but not this soon.  If I do get that taken care of, I'll be back sooner rather than later.  Without some help or some divine intervention (and yes, I am praying), it looks like I won't be back before the end of the year.  I feel snakebit by this development, but I will be working on setting up those episodes in the meantime...one of them is ready to go once I'm back and find a place to shoot it but I can work on others while the wait is on.  I'm hoping to be back soon but, again, I need stuff to go my way first.  On that note, I'm gonna take off so take care, God bless, and I'll see you on the flip side.

Major, Major Update

 Greetings, friends.  DJ here.

After about an almost year-long hiatus, DJ in Real Life is finally on the air on YouTube.  I've got a couple short episodes up right now, including a new intro episode just to get things off the ground there.  I don't know how many episodes I'm gonna post or how far in between those episodes might be but I am aiming for some regularity in a schedule.  I've got some freedom in where I film the show because it's not dependent on a live internet connection, so I can take my time and get episodes done the way I want them to be.  I've also spruced up the DJRL logo...it's essentially the same one but it's angled and looks a bit different now.  Like I noted last year, the show can be reached at www.djinreallife.com.  It'll take you straight to the show's YouTube page where you can watch the latest episodes.  It's been an up and down journey to this point, but I'm finally here and so is the show.

Until next time, folks...take care, God Bless, and watch the show.

Updates & Announcements about DJ in Real Life - Moving to YouTube

 Greetings, friends!!!

Yesterday, I posted the last episode of DJ in Real Life...on Twitch.  That's right, after several months of live video shoots on Twitch, DJRL will be moving...that's right, moving...to YouTube.  As I talked about in past episodes, this has been a phased process to get to this point.  The first phase was the audio podcast version of DJRL, which you can find currently on the DJRL YouTube channel in the Podcast Episodes playlist.  The second phase was the Twitch channel, where old episodes of those can be found in the highlights section of the DJRL channel there.  The third and final phase is the move to YouTube, which is still now in the works.

Honestly, I was expecting to be on Twitch for a long time.  However, I've been having some serious wi-fi issues with my computer and problems with other equipment which made it no longer feasible to be able to confidently do the show on Twitch any longer, especially in regard to post production on that platform.  Because of this, I've been working on moving the show permanently to YouTube.  That was always my goal but I was not expecting to have to make the move so soon.

Changes are already afoot in preparation of the move to YouTube.  The website address djinreallife.com now goes to the DJRL YouTube page (it used to go to the Twitch one).  I have new post-production software for Android devices where I can put together & even upload the show from my phone (or a tablet I may purchase in the future).  The social media pages are still the same but I have updated the header images for those.  Because I won't be doing the show live (rather, it'll be live-to-tape) like I had to do on Twitch, I won't need a wi-fi connection to record video so all I'll need is a power outlet when I'm out recording.  That will free me up to do the show from a whole bunch of locations I didn't expect to be able to do them from.  Also, now that I have some post-production software, I won't have to memorize the ending spiel like I had to for Twitch as a lot of that spiel will be part of the end credit sequences at the end of each episode.

I want to make sure I start the new version of the show on good footing & with a proper foundation, so I'm going to take my time and wait to record & put together the first episode.  I don't have a timeframe for when the show will relaunch but it will happen sometime before the end of the year.  I'm hoping it'll be fully going by early November at the latest as I want to get some video in the can & maybe full episodes before getting that first show up and online.  Also, there is more stuff I want to get before I start really going.  Until then, I will be posting updates on social media about the new show's progress and make an official announcement on when the first episode will arrive when it's about to drop.  Until then, take care and God Bless, everyone.

Major change to DJ in Real Life...for the time being...

 Greetings, friends.

As of a few days ago, I've decided to change up the show on a temporary basis.  It will not be aired as a podcast.  I've decided to make the show a video stream that will be aired "LIVE" on Twitch.  I've got decent equipment to do this with and, since I've wanted to make DJ in Real Life an actual TV-like show, this brings that dream closer to reality.  This is not a final decision but more of a trial run to see if it is realistically doable on a regular basis.  I will make a final decision on this route once I do this for a while.  You can find the show here on Twitch:  https://www.twitch.tv/djinreallife.

Until next time, folks...take care and God Bless.

DJ in Real Life coming back January 2022 & update on Youtube

Greetings, friends.  I want to announce that the podcast will be coming back in January of 2022...maybe even sooner than that depending on if some things break my way.  I am excited to be able to bring it back.  However, there has to be a bit of a tradeoff to make it happen.  My current computer is no longer able to handle stuff that taxes it such as video production software.  Because of those limitations, there will be no upcoming episodes posted on the DJRL Youtube channel until I can get a better computer that can handle video production.  For the time being, the show will be audio only.  It'll still be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or wherever you listen to the show...it just that new eps will not be on Youtube.  That's all I have for now.  Thank you, take care, and God Bless.

An Update About DJ in Real Life

Greetings, ladies, gentlemen, and those in between,

It's been about a year since I did any type of maintenance updates, but I do have some stuff to talk about today.  First off, I decided to put DJ in Real Life on indefinite hiatus, officially as of May but it stretched back to the beginning of the year.  The computer I've been using for the podcast is no longer suitable for doing the show as it is getting older & I can only do basic tasks on it anymore.  The other equipment is okay to use but I am gonna have to get a newer computer with upgraded specs to do the kind of show I want to do.  I do have an eye on one particular model, but it is unaffordable to me at the moment.  In any case, if I get the computer necessary to do this, I will start working on bringing back the show at that point.  In the meantime, I have renewed the "djinreallife.com" for the long term.  I have also procured another microphone, but I still have to get some specific software to install on my future computer so I can fulfill another stated goal for the show...having guests or even co-hosts.  It is going to be some time before the show comes back, so for now, I will do what I can to get the show fully up and running once again.  Until next time, folks...take care and God Bless.

Update on Video Versions of Upcoming Episodes

Greetings, friends!  Due to wi-fi issues caused by a power surge last week (which also caused a neighborhood blackout & fried my brother's computer), there will be no video versions of upcoming episodes including the latest one posted yesterday on either YouTube or Instagram until further notice.  The podcast itself will go on as usual but I didn't want to take any chances with video uploads on a problematic wi-fi network.  I'm hoping that they will be fixed within the next two to three weeks.  My apologies for the inconvenience but I will get the video versions of those episodes done once the issues are cleared up.  Take care and God Bless. - DJ

Video Exclusive Episodes

Greetings, friends!!!  This is ya boy DJ coming at ya with a maintenance update regarding something new for DJ in Real Life.  I am now adding the occasional video-exclusive episode of DJRL on YouTube that will be separate yet complimentary to the audio podcast.   If you check out the YouTube page, you will find the first video-exclusive episode of DJRL titled the "2020 Akron Fourth of July Fireworks Display" there.  These video-only episodes will be a rarity as I can only do them from time to time because of limitations due to basic video equipment & the somewhat out-of-date computer I have to use to produce video projects.  TL/DR...the podcast show will be the main focus and outlet but when possible or necessary I'll put up video editions on YouTube on the same page I put the podcast editions on.  Speaking of the podcast, I did put a little tweak into the beginning theme for the show and I believe I am finally set on the theme front for the long term.  On that note, take care and God Bless.
